The early 80s UK groove music scene is undergoing a Renaissance.

And the good news is that, Atmosfear, Intergalactic Brit Funk Masters and creators of the iconic dance floor hit ‘Dancing in Outer Space’, are alive and kicking.

To celebrate, Cre8 is hosting London’s first Brit Funk Jam session, marking a series of Atmosfear’ic Brit live performances.

Today, the band has reformed led by the co-founder and Bass player Lester J. Batchelor with a new line-up including fellow Brit Funker Orphy Robinson of Savana, Shelley Debenham, Dee Byrne, Antonello Fillacio, Raphael Robinson, Lea Rogers and Cosimo Keita.

Atmosfear is joined on stage by special guest performers and the mood is set by Cre8′s own Speakeasy house DJ Akin spinning the very best grooves to make you move.

Admission £6.50 online, £8 on the door before 9pm, £10 after 10pm

Will be playing a small set with talented singer Sheryl alongside Muzical Mindz collective featuring Steven Ville and Steven Stewart.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to witness fashion, music and art all in unison, under one roof, with our eclectic mix of performers such as Soloist Tom Price-Stephens & Fashion Designer Milina Imrichova whose beautiful collections will be gracing our catwalk.

We will open our doors at 7:30p.m. with our acts finishing around midnight but in true Be On The Scene style, we will have our DJ on the decks, mixing up the beats to carry you through to 4:00 in the morning. The Coronet is within 5 Minutes tube Distance from Waterloo and London Bridge underground as well as a number of major bus routes that stop right outside.

Featuring Intergalactic Funk Masters Atmosfear, Stateside Soul Man Big Brooklyn Red and last but no way least Jazz Funk Legends Beggar & Co also featuring DJs Stumps & Lee with special guest DJ Jeff Young.

Atmosfear are a UK based JazzFunk band from the early 1980s who along with their contemporaries Level 42, Incognito, Light of the World, Hi-tension, Savanna, Central Line, and a few others were the foundation and heart of the Brit-Funk movement.

Big Brooklyn Red’s self-released album, Foreword, doesn’t seem like the work of a neophyte. The tones of this album are deep and mature. His vocal skills are complimented by soulful, organic tracks that resonate with his passionate and powerful voice.

Beggar & Co will be bringing a nine/ten piece band to the Leas Cliff Hall. Kenny Wellington, Dave Baptiste and Breeze McKrieth will play a set of their music from the last thirty years. Songs from the band they first formed many years ago Light of the World, as well as Beggar & Co material including: London Town, Pete’s Crusade and national chart hits Time/I’m So Happy, Somebody Help Me Out and (Mule) Chant No 2.

On top of all this there are also the classics from the Kenny Wellington/ Richard Bull produced Inner Voices CD such as Bahia and Blue Sky Day, the band will also perform tracks from their most recent CD Sleeping Giants including the already much loved track Victoria Park

Atmosfear were a British jazz funk band formed in 1979. They consisted of bassist, and keyboardist Lester J. Batchelor, drummer Ray Johnson, guitarist Andy Sojka, saxophonist Stewart Cawthorne, and producer Jerry Pike. A year later singer and guitarist Tony Antoniou joined the main line up. Regular support musician / members of the band were keyboardist Peter Hinds (Light of the World/Incognito) and percussionist Leroy Williams ( Hi Tension)
Their most notable release was “Dancing In Outer Space”, which reached the Top 50 of the UK Singles Chart in 1979.
